It appears that French rider Penelope Leprevost has caused an outrage and fiery debate online in regards to the video that has been taken of her & her horse Vegabond De La Pomme in the warm up of the Longines FEI World Cup Finals in Gothenburg.
Monday night during the last day of the finals, Leprevost was seen live on FEI TV to be using excessive methods of force on her horse who actually won the Speed Leg in Gothenburg on the first day of the competition.
Firstly, the horse tripped badly and collapsed to his knees, head to the ground but surprisingly gets back up. Checking for injuries by looking on the side, Leprevost kicks her mount then pulls him on the mouth. The act of kicking and pulling back up is then repeated in other areas of the ring.
The FEI has become very concerned with these actions, as horse welfare is paramount not only to them but also to the Swedish Equestrian Federation and the Organizing Committee of the Gothenburg Horse Show.
