Ian Millar, Canada’s show jumping veteran, has suffered a tragic loss to his 15 – year old gelding Star Power ( By Quick Star). On Team Millar’s official facebook page, it says : “It is with the deepest sadness that we report to you that Star Power passed away yesterday. It is unjust that what should have been a long and well deserved retirement was cut so short. Star Power represented Canada, all of us at Millar Brooke and Team Works in such an impressive and successful manner for so long that he will not be forgotten. RIP Star, you will be missed. “
Star Power was originally found by Emile Hendrix in Italy doing National shows under the name of Uranus. In 2012, Star Power helped Millar become the first athlete ever to compete at 10 Olympic Games and also with a top 10 finish.
